State of being

MOVEMENT . FAMILY . NOURISHMENT

An athlete her whole life and always in motion, Erica was initially resistance to the reflective aspects of yoga. Even so, her mom encouraged her to stick to a regular yoga practice throughout school. After graduating from Michigan State University, Erica moved to Chicago and had the opportunity to practice under a variety of Chicago's top teachers and many internationally recognized movement educators. Erica completed multiple Yoga Alliance trainings at various yoga schools throughout the city. Her time in Chicago allowed Erica to come into her own as a student. Since moving back to Detroit, she’s had the opportunity to evolve her role as a guide in the wellness and movement space.

Erica is an E-RYT 500hr Certified Yoga Instructor and Certified Personal Trainer that focuses on postural restoration, somatic movements, integrative biomechanics, strength training and breath work. Erica is the Director of Wellness at HOT BONES Detroit where she oversees the yoga and pilates program. She provides support and education to fellow instructors through her Work Study program and as the Yoga Program Lead at Equinox, Bloomfield Hills.  She has written curriculum for Equinox that has been recognized on a global level and is a current Lululemon Ambassador at Old Woodward, Birmingham. Erica’s teachings are greatly influenced her dear friends and teachers Sara Strother, Christina Corso and The Maze Method. She also holds a specialization in biomechanics through Pinnacle Performance.

An eternal learner, Erica believes in the importances of asking questions, taking risks and being innovative. She values that every[body] is unique and that practice should include an on-going dialogue with ones own body. Erica guides with a devotion to exploration, helping students cultivate a better sense of awareness and physical potential. Her goal is to help people feel comfortable and confident in their extraordinary body. Students can expect to use a variety of props for mobility, strength and stability, to move with a sense of embodiment, and feel encouraged to progress within their own means. Erica appreciates all forms of movement whether it be strength training, practicing yoga or running around barefoot.
